New Opel Corsa-e: Interior Heating and Cooling via Remote Control.

2020-02-11

  • Warm up or cool down: remote control of interior temperature via “myOpel” app
  • Democratization of technology: unique comfort-feature is standard equipment
  • Plugged-in benefit: state-of-charge retained during preconditioning

Rüsselsheim.  The interior of the new Opel Corsa-e can be set at a pleasant temperature via the new “myOpel” app before the journey has even begun. Thanks to preconditioning, drivers of the battery-electric Corsa-e can forget about scraping ice off the windscreen in winter, while in hot weather they can climb into a comfortably cool cabin. In other words, stationary heating and air conditioning are always standard. Combined with the “myOpel” app, the Corsa-e therefore opens a new dimension of comfort for drivers and passengers. Such a pre-cooling function is not available in combustion-engine cars – not even in the luxury class.

Thanks to advanced technology and state-of-the-art driver assistance systems, the new Corsa seamlessly continues the tradition of its five predecessors. The Opel brand – and especially the Corsa, ever since its introduction in 1982 – has always stood for the democratization of technology. The new Corsa-e will arrive at dealerships in the spring and is already orderable.

Get in, get comfortable and get going

Operation could not be easier. Users select their car via the “myOpel” app or switch on the preconditioning while in the cockpit. Alternatively, preconditioning is programmable via the car’s touchscreen. The interior not only reaches the temperature in just a few minutes, but if the weather is freezing, the windows are free of ice too. When outside it is minus 20oC, it takes a maximum 45 minutes to warm up the interior of the Corsa-e to a cosy temperature – comfortable for the passengers and ideal for the performance and durability of the battery.

Warm up or cool down while the battery is charging

In addition to increased comfort, a cool or cosy interior has another advantage. If the temperature is set while the Corsa-e is plugged in, for example, at a wall-box, a fast charger or even a household socket, the energy required comes from the external grid. The maximum range1 is therefore available at the start of the journey (up to 337 kilometres in the WLTP2 test cycle).

[1] The actual range can vary under everyday conditions and depends on various factors, in particular on personal driving style, route characteristics, outside temperature, use of heating and air conditioning and thermal preconditioning.

[2] Fuel consumption and CO2-emission data have been determined according to WLTP test procedure methodology (R (EC) No. 715/2007, R (EU) No. 2017/1151).
