New Opel Vivaro impresses with reliability, economy and functionality

Rüsselsheim.  While Reinhold Messner will celebrate his 70th birthday on September 17, the other star from the latest Opel clip, the Opel Vivaro, has only just been released.

Opel will continue the success story of the transporter with the new generation of the light commercial vehicle and will demonstrate top-of the-class versatility, active and passive safety features along with innovative powertrain technology, new design and low running costs. The outstanding spaciousness of the Opel Vivaro is plain to see at first sight and reason enough to send Adventurer and extreme athlete Reinhold Messner on an expedition through the Vivaro and look over his shoulder.

Messner, who was the first mountaineer to climb all 8,000 meter peaks in the world, starts the current clip with his usual meticulous planning which represents the extensive safety systems of the Vivaro. After this, the actual expedition starts: Messner and his Sherpa enter the extremely unusual terrain via the rear door. “It is the crowning moment of an adventurer’s life”, says Messner with tongue in cheek.

Director Sandro Suppnig stages the clip as an expedition through the apparently never-ending space of the Vivaro. Viewers are taking on the trip by Messner thanks to a “breathing” hand-held camera and get see the unexpected versatility of the new, big Opel.

“The Vivaro is much more than a commercial vehicle. It is a big, safe companion and worth being explored. Our campaign ‘Umparken im Kopf’ is also valid for commercial vehicles which we have demonstrated in a fun way with Reinhold Messner”, said Tina Müller, Vice President & CMO Opel Group.

You can find the Vivaro expedition on Opel’s YouTube channel under http://www.youtube.com/opelde and on umparken-im-kopf.de. The clip is also promoted via Opel’s social media channels such as Facebook and Twitter. The YouTube offering is complemented by the ‘making of’ clip which was shot in the Messner Mount Museum in South Tyrol.

The current short clip is the next step in the longstanding relationship between Reinhold Messner and Opel. The mountaineer was selected as a brand ambassador for the Opel Corsa in 1997 and, since 2012, is an enthusiastic owner of an Opel Ampera – the first electric vehicle fully suitable for everyday use due to unique range-extender technology.

The new Vivaro can be experienced under Opel.com, at Opel dealers and – for the first time as a Combi with three rows of seat – at the IAA Commercial Vehicles (Hannover, September 25 to October 2.
